Like everyone else I've met recently I find it difficult to comprehend how quickly Christmas and the New Year has passed... and now it is 2020, and it's suddenly hit me that it's not only the festive season that's gone fast, but where on earth have the last two decades gone! So much has changed in the last 20 years and changes seem to be coming faster and faster, however I am personally a lot more optimistic about the world than I have been - the opposite to many people, I know - but last year wasn't a happy one for many and I'm certain 2020 is going to be much, much better.
BTW. Warnings are going around to write the full '2020' on documents not just '/20' because the short version can be easily altered. I can't really imagine anyone wanting to do that, but no doubt someone will if given the chance. The first class of '2020' is less than a week away and after a lot of deliberation I've finally got the programme onto the website, I'm very much looking forward to seeing everyone again and getting back into the swing of things though I know that the first class is always just a tad chaotic. We will hopefully have a couple of visitors who are on holiday here and at least one new dancer joining us too so it should be fun. Thanks to everyone who has sent cards and greetings and I'm sorry that I've not been able to reciprocate so far, it's on the list but a way from the top ... limited time and stormy weather has kept me away from my keyboard and now I'm finally finding time to sit down I've an impossible amount of catching up to do - you'll probably get your cards around April! Burns night is almost upon us, I'm working on the tickets and they will be available on Tuesday so don't forget your pennies, and Membership renewals are also due too - yours truly has just printed the membership cards so they better be needed :-) One final bit of sad news about Molly Elieson who (despite a serious heart condition) joined us dancing every Winter and Spring up until 2015, apparently she passed away early last year - Barbara Reid forwarded the information after being contacted by Molly's son. Molly told me many times how much she enjoyed and valued the welcome she got whenever she was here and I'm proud that the class still has the reputation of being incredibly welcoming to visitors, returnees and newcomers - and I'm sure that will continue well beyond 2020. See you on Tuesday. Jx
