Tips, Hints & Rules
A ‘Treasure Hunt’ involves teams driving a prepared route whilst attempting to answer questions on their surroundings, most questions can be answered whilst in the car; a few questions require you to leave the car briefly – there is always a safe stopping place. A separate ‘passenger’s quiz’ will also be supplied.
The route should take approx 2-3 hours depending on speed and the number of breaks taken – it is NOT a race. Care should be taken to drive safely and to allow local traffic to overtake when necessary. Clues do not require you to enter any private property or building or interrogate the locals. The driver should be confident on poor quality roads but the route is negotiable by 2 wheel drives.
The day before the Treasure Hunt all team leaders will be sent their departure times via e-mail, plus directions to the starting point. The location of the start and finish are not the same. Parking is available at the starting and finishing points.
There are several possible coffee/toilet break stopping points on the route – stopping is perfectly acceptable, but note that the hunt finishes at 4:30 pm.
Each team will be supplied with the location of the final picnic site & the organizer’s phone number in a sealed ‘escape envelope’ in case they get lost, bored, fall out with the rest of their team or run out of time – if the course is completed successfully the envelope should be returned to the organizers unopened or the team forfeits their points.
There will be a post run picnic on a ‘bring and share’ basis – people who don’t wish to take part in the Treasure Hunt are still welcome to bring a dish and join in with the picnic – the location of the picnic will be available – but should be kept confidential from teams wishing to do the Hunt
Anyone is welcome to take part but in the interests of safety the Hunt will be restricted to a maximum of 12 cars – if (in the unlikely event) of more than 12 cars being entered priority will be given to society members.
Requirements
A vehicle (in good condition, fully insured etc); A full tank of petrol; A team; A pen/pencil; A mobile phone; A driver confident on Cypriot roads; A good sense of humour.
Optional – A camera, money for a coffee on the way

Enjoy and Good Luck

- The winners will be announced at the next Tuesday class and on the Website. The organisers welcome bribes but the prizes are pitiful so it’s probably not worth it.
- The forecast is brilliant sunshine, if it rains.... we get wet!
