2024 Christmas Ceilidh
A party night to end the season and everyone joined in the fun with some excellent outfits.
There was food - thanks go to the Phoenix Club committee members who stepped in at the last minute to make this possible. The cost was covered by the Group so everyone enjoyed their festive Buns & Chips for free!
There was drink - Thanks to the fabulous bar staff who attend every week. They won a little appreciation package for their festive gear highlighting their continual contibution to the success of our evenings
There was dancing - and didn't they do well, guests, beginners & experienced dancers all pranced around the room in best party spirit - Borrowdale Exchange was the highlight of the night :- other dances we did were The Cumberland Reel, Butterscotch & Honey, The Christmas Tree, Barley Bree and The Ring of Brodgar finishing with the Waltz Country Dance.
There was music & song - a rendition of 12 Days in Cyprus was followed by several carols & Christmas Songs brilliantly accompanied by Doug.
I also recited The Beginner; by Pat Batt and 'A Rondel Incident' by me!
It was a truly excellent evening - which wouldn't have happened without everyone's hard work, not least Irene who as usual managed 'to sort out the sandwiches', and still look amazingly elegant and unruffled, and everyone who attended and joined in with such friendliness & good spirit.
Please email :- [email protected], if you have any pictures of the evening you'd like to add to this account it would be great to have them.
2021 Christmas Quiz
With government restrictions still prohibiting social dancing (as opposed to a class) our usual 'Christmas Ceilidh' obviously couldn't happen, but it was the final chance to have some sort of get together in 2021. After the success of the previous year's summer quiz a Christmas themed quiz seemed the way to go - or at least worth a try.
Not much of a hardship when it was held at the Elea!
Thanks to Marilyn and Gavin for their hard work setting and running the quiz, the usual team of decorators, Irene for organizing everything and Doug for standing ready in the wings in case we needed extra entertainment.
Here are a few pictures to remind attendees of the night, and let others know what they missed.
