It takes me a while to get around to things - partly, I like to think, because I have a lot of things to get around to. Urgent ones get done. Non-urgent, well, there's definitely a problem with that and yet again I've been pipped to the post with a potential Sunday class location. Never mind, what to do, can't be helped... now I'm aiming for mid - June, by which time there should be a new AC in the Phoenix Club, so maybe the delay is worth it.
In the meantime we've had some really varied classes since my last post; numbers are totally unpredictable, packed out one week, just a select few the next, but despite missing many of our regulars, for all sorts of reasons, we are also welcoming some great newcomers to the class which is brilliant. Sadly we don't have enough people to justify the presence of our lovely bar staff, but we are trusted to organise ourselves, so we can still enjoy our lime and sodas' or occasional red wine or G&T as our energy needs and stress levels dictate! Every class is fun, however many can join us, for example yesterday's 'Beginner's' class, which is usually well attended - though admittedly not with exactly the same people every week - was especially low in numbers; but since all the people who did turn up weren't actually beginners we used the chance to learn the lovely 2 couple strathspey 'Alltshellach', which is as challenging as its spelling suggests! Watching expert dancers do it is one thing, actually working out the directions as well as what your hands and feet are doing for Diamond Poussettes, reels of 4 across the dance (easy), but starting from the sidelines (suddenly not easy), and the beautiful, but very rarely danced formation The Tournée, filled the whole lesson. And at the end, exhausted but chuffed with ourselves the dance is sorted - we'll be dancing a demonstration yet!
