Well actually I've had a lot to say over the last few weeks but I haven't really had the time, or energy to say it, which is possibly just as well!
Anyway, it's finally cooling down - in fact it's rained several times already - unusual, but welcome - and finally keeping the dancing going is becoming less hard work. Well done, and thank-you, to all the stalwarts who have supported the classes, despite the heat at the Club, over the last few weeks; Welcome to our new dancers, it's lovely to have you wish us and I hope you enjoy yourselves; And finally it's great to gradually welcome back returnees, as well as some unexpected visitors last week. To everyone who isn't back in the country yet, we are looking forward to seeing you soon, as well as all our friends who are unable to dance with us, yet, due mainly to ill health - what's happening to us all? Don't forget that once you are able to join us again SCD is a great way to exercise body & brain as well as lifting the spirits - it can be so hard to get going again but it's always worth it. Now to news. The dates for the St Andrew Ball are now fixed. See the poster for details. Jenny & Fiona (P) have grasped the 'Events' nettle and are now organising Group Events. I hope you'll give them lots of support. Tickets will be available from next week. If you know anywhere you can put up a poster or post a flyer, either email me and I can send you one to print out, or we'll have them at next week's classes. I'm looking forward to seeing you.

I've been a bit nervous restarting the classes - though not for any definite reason. I always worry that people wont enjoy themselves, or that I'll say something wrong, or somehow people's expectations wont be met but once I get a class started I just get on with it, and somehow it seems to work. At times I'm amazed by how patient people are as I sort myself out, but I suppose they're used to it! Anyway, first two sessions - a bit hot & sweaty but we managed; - not that many people but enough; slightly new room layouts - seemed to work, and as more people start to return the collywobbles will hopefully resolve.
Not much more to report except 'well done' to everyone who has joined us so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of you soon. And if you are a little nervous before coming to the class - well you know you're not the only one! Ahhh... don't panic!
Thanks everyone who have said they are looking forward to restarting tonight, it really makes a difference to me - and thanks also to those of you who can't make it back yet, but have let me know that you hope to re-join us when you can (God willing). It stops me worrying about you - or at least I know exactly what to pray for when I do worry! Those of you who aren't well, get well soon, those of you who are away - enjoy yourselves but hurry back ;-) If there's anyone out there who wants to give the dancing a try, but just isn't sure about it - especially if you are 'solo' - gather your courage & come & join us; if you don't enjoy it it's one evening wasted, but if you do then it's fun, fitness & friendship for the rest of your life! |
