Our summer break has started, I feel I deserve it, but at the same time the 'June Jamboree' was such a success that I want to do it all again! A long description of what went on, plus lots more pictures, can be accessed directly HERE, or by clicking above (in the website if you are reading this on Facebook) on the 'Past Events' tab, and then clicking on the JJ poster. Thank you to all of you who came just to enjoy the evening, as well as to support our group, and even more well done to everyone who danced! I hope those who ended up in bare feet didn't suffer too much later! It's taken a few days to put all the decorations away and I'm only just starting to think about what to do over the summer. I will be in touch, with those who have expressed an interest, regarding more Sunday Classes, otherwise if I don't see you before, I hope you have a very happy summer's break, and I look forward to seeing you again in September - when we'll be starting the build up to the St Andrew Ball on Friday 7th November (let's hope it's not quite as memorable as last year)!

Busy isn't a frantic enough word to describe life a the moment... but I just have to take a moment to say "well done", to the people who came for the Sunday class today. It's been a few years since I taught a class at this level, and I was definitely rusty - but wow... well done everyone -Schiehallion Reels, Tandem Petronella turns and Diamond (AKA Strathspey) Poussettes all mastered in one class.
Details of 'Sunday' classes can be found under the Dance Classes tab above and I'm checking room availability and we'll try to get another one going in a couple of weeks - let's strike while the iron is hot! We've one more 'Tuesday' Class and 2 more 'Monday' Classes before the June Jamboree, which signals the end of our weekly sessions for the summer; but if enough people are interested we can hold a few Sunday classes during the break, to keep our hand (or feet) in until September. Watch this space. It's been several extremely busy weeks, (gardening, church, dancing, computer group, learning to be a bartender!, dancing, attending meetings, designing posters, dancing etc, etc you know, normal life but a lot of it!) since I last posted a blether. As usual time is passing unbelievably quickly and all of a sudden we are nearly at the end of our dance season. Next week is our last Tuesday class, because the Tuesday of the week following it is our brilliant 'June Jamboree' when we celebrate the end of our spring season, dancing under the stars at the Elea Golf Resort (I hope you've got your tickets - contact me, or Pete if you haven't got them yet).
During the last few weeks the numbers at both classes have fluctuated enormously; occasionally unexpectedly busy but generally lower than normal. We've always have enough attending to enjoy some really great dancing, however with fewer numbers (despite welcoming some new faces to the group) and the weather getting hotter it's definitely harder work and I'm quite looking forward to a break. On the other hand, I've finally managed to organise an 'advanced' Sunday class, scheduled for this Sunday - hopefully the first of many - if there's enough people interested - we shall see. |
